NADF Newsflash – November 2009

newsflash

Dear Member, Stakeholder and Supplier

NADF is negotiating the sale of a motorbike for the Estate of the Late Ezra Ndlovu, our late Matabeleland Chairman to assist with the winding up of his Estate.  The motorbike is a Honda CG 125 petrol model.  It is registered as being a 2006 model and has never been used.  Please contact Rob Van Vuuren at [email protected] if you are interested in purchasing this bike.  The current price is US$1 200,00 or nearest cash offer.

NADF is holding an Executive Meeting on 17th November 2009.  Should you have any topics you wish to be discussed or debated at this meeting, please contact your Regional Chairman to find out when your Regional Meeting is being held and bring your concern to his/her attention.

If you have reasonably priced, hardy stock for sale, including dairy crosses please contact Sue Bell at [email protected] with details of animals on offer and prices required. If you are either in the vicinity of one of the dairies or could transport the animals to the dairies this would be a benefit.

Aglabs have confirmed that the Bentley machine is now fully operational and testing of milk has resumed.  This is a welcome development and we need to support Aglabs as our independent testing laboratory.

Rob Van Vuuren travelled to Musina to collect a few back editions of the Dairy Mail and arranged a new collection system whereby Vice President, Louis Fick has kindly offered to collect Dairy Mails in future, free of charge.  A big thank you to Louis for this service.  In the near future we will be back on stream with the distribution of these useful magazines.

An opportunity has arisen for a producer who may wish to enter a partnership venture with a reputable establishment.  Land is secure and the base line objective is to combine the current relatively small herd with another to improve the overall viability of a larger unit.  Also on offer is a poultry facility that is currently being underutilized.  For further details please contact Rob Van Vuuren directly on [email protected] or 0912 331 612.

STABEX ’95 VACCINE PROGRAMME UPDATE

Livestock producers are reminded of the procurement procedure for the vaccines available under this programme :

1.         Complete an Application form and hand this in or e-mail it to the NADF office.

2.         The Application Form then requires a Commercial Farmer’s Union stamp as well as a Union Project Trust stamp.

3.         Depending on availability, vaccines are allocated.

4.         A Vaccine Drawdown Authorization Form is them completed by NADF and this is then taken to FIVET Animal Health, Harare at 2 Telford Road, Graniteside, by the applicant.  FIVET will issue a further release document.  Please note that FIVET will only release vaccines if you have cooler boxes and frozen ice packs with you.

Please note that if you wish a third party to collect your vaccines, please provide a covering letter to FIVET.  We also urge

Producers who have received an allocation of vaccines to collect these as soon as possible.  Please can all those

farmers/producers who have been advised that their Vaccine Draw Down Authorization Forms are ready for collection of

vaccines call in at NADF offices and collect this form and then collect your Vaccine from FIVET urgently.

FIVET require space in their cooler rooms to accept the next draw down order from Onderspoort and Pfizer in Pretoria.

To enable NADF to fulfill back orders and continue supplying vaccines NADF needs all fulfilled orders to be collected and

paid for so that the next draw down batch of vaccines can be received from South Africa by FIVET.  The next order from

South Africa is due on the 13th November 2009.

NADF is currently in the process of negotiating with FIVET and Coopers to have additional supply outlets in other centers.

Currently Rift Valley Fever (Cattle) and Vibro Lepto are out of stock and we hope new stocks of these vaccines and others

will be delivered by mid November.
