Warthog poacher gang arrested

SIX men were arrested for allegedly trapping and killing warthogs on a farm in Matobo district, Matabeleland South province.
Employees at Tonbridge Farm spotted the suspects during a routine patrol just before sunset on Sunday.
The suspects who are all from Bulawayo, allegedly sneaked into the farm armed with spears, axes, knives and had dogs.
Obvious Moyo (19), Muzomkhulu Moyo (18), Willard Sibanda (26), Proud Dube (22), Jerious Dube (19) and Thabani Ncube (25) were apprehended by farm workers and surrendered to the police.
Matabeleland South Police spokesperson Inspector Philisani Ndebele confirmed the arrests and said investigations were underway.
“I can confirm receiving a report of six men who were arrested for allegedly poaching wildlife. Their arrest led to the discovery of two warthog carcasses. The suspects were armed with spears, axes, knives and had dogs,” he said.
