Two Bindura men were on Friday fined $500 or alternatively a 30-day jail term for stealing green maize cobs from a local commercial farm.

Dadirai Zindonde (23) and Gladis Siburinyu(22) were sentenced on their own plea of guilty when they appeared before magistrate Moreblessing Makati.

Prosecutor Vincent Marunya told the court that the convicts were intercepted by a security guard inside Tatenda Kuhlengisa’s maize field and found in possession of 272 maize cobs valued at $7 000.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to the pair’s arrest.
