IRVINE’S Zimbabwe recently handed over a chicken house that the country’s leading poultry producer built at Ntabeni Primary School as part of its partnership with government’s Command Livestock Agricultural Programme.

The chicken house was handed to the school by Irvine’s Broiler Executive, Martin Ndengu who emphasised the poultry producer’s commitment to the Command Livestock Agricultural Programme.

“Under this Command Livestock Agriculture partnership, Irvine’s will support local poultry farmers through the provision of 12 poultry demonstration houses complete with equipment required for chicken rearing across all provinces of the country. Each house has a capacity of 2 500 broilers.  Irvine’s provides the first batch of chicks, necessary feed and other support free of charge,” said Ndengu.

Apart from Ntabeni primary school, some of the centres  to be assisted by Irvine’s include agricultural colleges such as Esigodini in Matebeleland South, Makoholi in Masvingo, Gwebi in Midlands, Kukwanisa Vocational College in Manicaland, Chipadze High School in Mashonaland Central and Goromonzi High School in Mashonaland East.

Ndengu said work at the majority of the centres had begun with most structures already done or at more than 70percent complete.
