There have recently been some queries with regard to the necessity for Zimbabwean drivers in South Africa to purchase an International Drivers Licence. We have even heard of some Zimbabweans being prosecuted by South African Police for driving with a Zimbabwean drivers licence in South Africa.
An email was also doing the rounds this week in Zimbabwe stating that International Drivers Licences were required by Zimbabweans in South Africa.
We therefore approached the South African Embassy in Harare who sent us the following facts from the Automobile Association website in South Africa, which state the opposite, that no drivers International Drivers Licences are required by Zimbabweans driving in South Africa.
