Businessman Temba Mliswa has been arrested again on allegations of extorting
US$1 600 from relatives of his two employees and the theft of 56 cattle in
Karoi.

Mliswa was yesterday in police custody and is expected to appear in court
soon.  Chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Wayne
Bvudzijena said Mliswa was arrested on Monday. “He extorted the money from a
white couple he had employed at his farm in Karoi,” he said.

He said sometime this year, Mliswa made a report to police in Karoi that the
couple had stolen at his farm but then later withdrew the case. In March, he
went to Borrowdale Police Station and reported the same matter, leading to
the couple’s arrest it is alleged.

“He then extorted US$1 600 from the couple’s family to facilitate their
release.
“They were released on payment of the cash,” said the police chief
spokesman.  Snr Asst Comm Bvudzijena said Mliswa was also implicated in the
theft of 56 cattle from Rydings Primary School in Karoi.  He said he could
not divulge further details as investigations were continuing.

Last year Mliswa was arrested on allegations of fraud, theft and assault.
Some of the cases are still pending at the courts and he has been acquitted
on others.
