Messrs Paul and Janse Grobler of Geluk Farm, Nyazura, were arrested on Monday evening and have subsequently spent two nights in Nyazura prison at the Nyazura Police Station in the most filthy conditions imaginable.
It would appear that there was an attempted jambanja by an alleged beneficiary who brought a drunken mob of hired youth to which the police allegedly failed to react swiftly when the situation became violent and life threatening. Shots were allegedly fired in the air to defend the family and elderly in the homestead. When the Police arrived the two men were arrested without charge.
They were charged on the second day for alleged attempted murder and appeared in the Rusape Magistrates Court today.
We are very relieved to hear just now that the Magistrate dismissed the charge completely and released the two men. He said he could find no charge against them as they had a right to defend themselves in their home. They were released and are on their way home.
We thank everyone for their assistance in this delicate matter.
