President Mnangagwa will officially open this year’s edition of the Harare Agricultural Show on Friday, Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) chief executive Dr Anxious Masuka has said. The show, which started on Monday, is running under the theme “Field to Industry: Produce, Connect and Develop”.

Dr Masuka said President Mnangagwa, who is the ZAS’s patron, has already confirmed his availability.
“Our guest of honour has been confirmed,” he said. “The President of the Republic of Zimbabwe His Excellency Cde ED Mnangagwa is our guest of honour for the 108th edition of the Harare Agricultural Show, and we look forward to his interaction with showgoers, exhibitors, our sponsors and farmers that will attend the Harare Agricultural Show.

“This is His Exellency’s maiden show as the Head of State and the new patron of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society. This is his first business interaction since his inauguration, and we are looking forward to it.”

Dr Masuka said Vice President Constantino Chiwenga will be officiating at the Agribusiness Conference today, which is going to be attended by President Mnangagwa and more than 400 business executives.

“Tomorrow (today) we have the Sixth Annual National Agri-business Conference, which will be officially opened by VP Chiwenga,” he said. “We expect about 400 delegates. The President of the Republic His Excellency ED Mnangagwa will be one of the discussants during that session, it is his first business interaction since his inauguration last Sunday.
“So, it is something that we are really looking forward to.”

Dr Masuka said Vice President Kembo Mohadi will be the guest of honour at the Mining and Agricultural Interface-Minex that will be held tommorow and is aimed at unlocking value for mutual growth in mining and agriculture.
He said the agricultural show has recorded the biggest number of exhibitors compared to previous years.

“The Harare Agricultural Show started on a high note and we are exceedingly pleased by the attendance, which is a record,” said Dr Masuka. “We also broke the record in terms of space uptake. We are now expecting the biggest attendance the Harare Show has ever seen.

“We are humbled by the confidence in the Harare Agricultural Show as a platform for opportunities, exhibitors and show-goers. We also set a record in terms of support from sponsors and our supporters. The show is oversubscribed.”
Dr Masuka said ZAS was working on ensuring that every stand was connected to the main water supply.
