The Federation of Young Farmers Clubs Zimbabwe Trust (FYFCZ) will today host the 2018 national young farmer’s awards to honour youths who have excelled in farming.

FYFCZ Trust secretary Mr Carlington Makore yesterday said the ceremony to recognise hard- working farmers came at a time when the organisation, in partnership with Government and stakeholders, has concluded a three-year strategic framework.

“The strategy will be implemented between 2018 and 2021,” he said.

“The awards programme has been very successful in profiling young successful farmers and agriculturalists in general and aims at creating a vibrant network of successful agro-entrepreneurs to champion agro-rural development.

“The programme also supports youth empowerment and mainstreaming of successful young farmers into the agricultural  sector.”

Mr Makore said rewarding successful youths in the agriculture sector allowed the creation of Private Public Partnerships as young farmers take centre stage.

“It allows for motivational competition and knowledge transfer, promote agriculture as a viable career choice for the youths, among other things,” he said.
